Pope Apologizes to Australia for Sex Abuse
I think that’s what Jesus would want a leader to do. Apologize for the behavior of his followers. I disagree with what one man said “the pope’s apology only words”. Most people nowadays don’t apologize for their wrongdoings let alone other peoples wrongdoings. What else does that man want? Money? Money won’t take away sexual abuse, but when a person apologizes it gives room for healing which is what I truly believe sexually abused people need… forgiveness toward others so that they may receive forgiveness from Jesus Christ.
Benedict echoed a similar apology made during his first visit to the United
States as pope this year, The New York Times reported.
I would like to pause
to acknowledge the shame which we have all felt as a result of the sexual abuse
of minors by some clergy and religious in this country, he said. These misdeeds,
which constitute so grave a betrayal of trust, deserve unequivocal condemnation.
They have caused great pain and have damaged the Church’s witness.
