Is Colbert pulling a joke? I sure hope so

Otherwise Feds says its illegal ,, yikes , Papa Bear would not like this.

With its snack-food sponsorship, Democratic and Republican affiliations, and Sen. Larry Craig as a possible running mate, Stephen Colbert’s run for the presidency is hardly serious business.

But the joke could be on Colbert if federal election officials decide his candidacy is for real.
If his campaign plays out the way he’s indicated that it will, Comedy Central and Colbert’s sponsor, Doritos, could be violating federal laws that bar corporations from backing political campaigns, election law experts say.

“How serious can you get about running as a joke?” said Massie Ritsch, communications director for the Center for Responsive Politics, a non-partisan group that tracks campaign finances. “The Federal Election Commission doesn’t have a great sense of humor.”

Gonna love it

Microsoft Got a two-part deal with Facebook

Take that Google boys, in yo’ face,.

NEW YORK (Fortune) — With its $240 million equity investment announced
Wednesday, along with a commitment to expand its pre-existing relationsip as
exclusive third-party representative for advertising on Facebook, Microsoft has
cemented its connection to the company Silicon Valley is obsessed with.

With this ever growing Facebook apps MS is doing win-win stragedy.

First, it seems to represent the future of the Web because it is such an
elegantly-designed way for individuals to connect with each other. The
socially-networked Internet is what techies see as the next thing and Facebook
is the standard-bearer.
Second, what causes Facebook to stand out from the
scores of other social networking companies is its amazing pace of growth

Future of Social Networking, yes, Future of the web? questionable.

So Microsoft’s $240 million, which amounts to a mere 1.6 percent of Facebook, wins Facebook a years-long insurance policy without it having to give up very much.

From Microsoft’s perspective, it’s a big win and worth every penny, even though it had to accept a Facebook company valuation of a stunning $15 billion. It was as much about keeping Google from buying a piece of Facebook as it was about buying one for itself.

Says analyst Roger Kay, President of Endpoint Technologies Associates: “For everything positive it does for Microsoft, it does something negative for Google, and in some ways that’s the benefit. It’s the return bout for having lost on YouTube, essentially

well then..

They call it Underwear for a reason

Or Undergarments are meant to be “under something” .

Another Cajun-country town bans saggy pants from its

With a councilman saying underwear “is
called
underwear for areason,” The ordinance, passed unanimously Monday by the
Port Allen

notfall below

Violators could be fined $25 to $250 for a first offense, and$250 to
$500 for
repeat offenses.
Council member Ray Helen Lawrence said she
voted for
theordinance only because she got numerous calls from constituents
whoconsider
the look a fashion faux pas. Many said they associatedroopy
outerwear with
crime, she said.
Council member Hugh Riviere said he
didn’t want to view
otherpeople’s undergarments, saying it “is called
underwear for areason.”
Stephanie DeLaney, one of two women asking the
council to rejectthe
proposal, said lightheartedly that she has lost weight,
so shesometimes wears
baggy pants.
“I’d hate for someone to call the
cops on me for that,” she
said.
Seven other Louisiana communities have
passed similar droopydrawers
ordinances: Eunice, Shreveport, Alexandria,
Delcambre,Mansfield, Lafourche and
Pointe Coupee parishes. Two others -

The city of Natchitoches rejected a similar

I know he’s not as cool as Chris Angels but, I’ll give him a thumbs up.

The illusionist, real name Wouter Bijdendijk, hovered several feet above
the pavement with apparent ease. His only “prop” was a stick that he held with
his left hand.

Cold Meds is a no-no for kids

Under 6 years of age is a no go feds says so.

WASHINGTON - The medicines long used by parents to treat their children’s coughs and colds don’t work and shouldn’t be used in those younger than 6, federal health advisers recommended Friday.

The over-the-counter medicines should be studied further, even after decades in which children have received billions of doses a year, the outside experts told the Food and Drug Administration. The FDA isn’t required to follow the advice of its panels of outside experts but does so most of the time.

“The data that we have now is they don’t seem to work,” said Sean Hennessy, a University of Pennsylvania epidemiologist, one of the FDA experts gathered to examine the medicines sold to treat common cold symptoms. The recommendation applies to medicines containing one or more of the following ingredients: decongestants, antihistamines and antitussives. It doesn’t apply to expectorants, though many of the medicines also contain that ingredient.

The nonbinding recommendation is likely to lead to a shake up in how the medicines - which have long escaped much scrutiny - are labeled, marketed and used. Just how and how quickly wasn’t immediately clear.

“If the agency chose to restrict use in children 6 and under, that won’t necessarily lead to a ban on the products. It might lead to labeling that says ‘do not use,’” said Dr. John Jenkins, director of the FDA’s office of new drugs.

Such labeling changes could take years to put in place, since the FDA would have to undertake a lengthy rule-making process. Jenkins suggested if the drug industry took it upon itself to make such changes, the FDA could use its enforcement discretion to allow it to do so more quickly than would be done otherwise.

Philippines Deadly Blast

Deadly blast that went off at Glorietta mall , now confirms 8 dead and about 70 injured.
From CNN .

MANILA, Philippines (AP) — A powerful explosion ripped through three floors of a shopping mall in the heart of Manila’s financial district Friday, killing eight people, injuring scores and sending police and troops on the highest state of alert.
President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo said “circumstances indicate it is highly probable that it was caused by an explosive device.” The same mall was targeted by a bombing in 2000.

She said police and the military went on the highest alert and deployed an additional 2,000 personnel to secure public areas “to prevent a similar occurrence.”

The afternoon explosion at the glitzy Glorietta 2 mall toppled roofs, destroyed walls, and sent debris crashing onto cars outside.

At least eight people were killed and more than 70 were injured, said metropolitan Manila police chief Geary Barias.

Police sealed off the shopping complex and searched debris for clues of explosives.

Che Guevarra’s monument destroyed Vandalized

Che lovers must be outraged. A.K.A Chavistas.
Well actually Mr. Chavez himself erected the glass monument to commemorate Che’s death.

CARACAS, Venezuela — A glass monument to revolutionary icon Ernesto “Che” Guevara was shot up and destroyed less than two weeks after it was unveiled by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez’s government.

Images of the 8-foot-tall glass plate bearing Guevara’s image, now toppled and shattered, were shown Friday on state television, which said the entire country “repudiated” the vandalism.

The monument on an Andean mountain highway near the city of Merida was unveiled Oct. 8 by Vice President Jorge Rodriguez and Cuba’s ambassador to Venezuela to mark the 40th anniversary of Guevara’s death.

Chavez venerates Guevara as a model socialist for all Venezuelans. He named a state-funded adult education program “Mission Che Guevara,” and murals of the iconic revolutionary have become a common sight in Venezuela.

Police said they had yet to identify those responsible. The Venezuelan newspaper El Nacional published a copy of what it said was a flier found by the monument signed by the previously unknown “Paramo Patriotic Front.”

“We don’t want any monument to Che, he isn’t an example for our children,” the flier read. It called Guevara a “cold-blooded killer” and said the government should raise a monument in Chavez’s hometown of Sabaneta, in the nearby lowland plains, if it wants to commemorate the Argentine-born revolutionary.

Well, point made.

Friday Thursday Funny: Iran Does not have Pistachios either

Besides Homo Sexuals,

“Iran also does not have crying babies, athlete’s foot, bad weather, body odor,
splinters, gingivitis, and pistachios.”

Here is the funny part .

Columbia President Lee Bollinger was quick to jump on Ahmadinejad’s remarks commenting, “Mr. Ahmadinejad has demonstrated once again that he is not just a liar, but he is also deranged. I have been to Iran myself. I have eaten their pistachios. They are lightly salted and actually quite tasty. The fact that he would claim that they do not exist, well, the world just doesn’t need a person who spreads lies like that. If however, he would like to come to Columbia University and engage in an open an honest discussion on the matter, we would love to have him.”

c’mon what about chicken? ,, you gotta have those in Iran.

American Haters who lives in America gathering (Bait spoiled)

(Update) I’m Busted ,

Democracy! Democracy! .

So what do you get if you put Dennis Kucinich, Ron Paul, congressmen Adam Kokesh, Iraq War veteran Chris Hedges, Cindy Sheehan,
Harry Karry, Michael Moore, Sean Penn in a rally ? .
answer: A whole lot of BS and a American Fascism Awareness

hey it’s suppose to be a “American Fascism Awareness”

The campaign mounted by campus leftists against Islamo-Fascism Awareness
Week, which is scheduled to take place on more than 100 campuses during the week
of October 22-26 has taken a new turn with the announcement of a counter-protest
at the Washington Monument. The protest, which will be called “American Fascism
Awareness Day” is being organized by Adam Kokesh of Iraq Veterans Against the
War, the Revolutionary Communist Party, Students for Justice In Palestine, and
the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee among others and will feature
speakers such as congressman Dennis Kucinich and presidential candidate Ron
Paul, anti-war activists Cindy Sheehan and Harry Karry and actor Sean Penn.
According to a spokesperson for the Revolutionary Communist Party, one of the
sponsors of the event, “This is an answer to the Jew Horowitz and the
neo-conservative Zionists who dragged us into an imperialist war in Iraq and are
spreading hatred against Muslims to support their war plans against the Republic
of Iran.”
