Ten Reasons Why The Jesus Tomb Claim is Bogus
Over the weekend, I heard the news that Titantic film director James Cameron and the Discovery Channel were teaming up to deny the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ. This morning (Monday) in New York City, they presented to the media what they claimed were ancient urns containing the bones of Jesus and Mary Magdelene, whom they claimed was Jesus’ wife! They also claimed Jesus had a son with his wife!
All of this isn’t just biblically inaccurate, it’s bad history and bad science. You deserve to know the truth.
“Unfortunately, this is a story full of holes, conjectures and problems,” said Dr. Ben Witherington, author of What Have They Done With Jesus? and New Testament professor at Asbury Theological Seminary. “It will make good TV and involves a bad critical reading of history. Basically, this is old news with a new interpretation. We have known about this tomb since it was discovered in 1980. There are all sorts of reasons to see this as much ado about nothing much.”
Witherington and other leading biblical scholars and archeologists say there are at least 10 reasons why the “Jesus Tomb” claim is completely bogus:
-
1. There is no DNA evidence that this is the historical Jesus of Nazareth
-
2. The statistical analysis is untrustworthy
-
3. The name “Jesus” was a popular name in the first century, appearing in 98 other tombs and on 21 other ossuaries
-
4. There is no historical evidence that Jesus was ever married or had a child
-
5. The earliest followers of Jesus never called him “Jesus, son of Joseph”
-
6. It is highly unlikely that Joseph, who died earlier in Galilee, was buried in Jerusalem, since the historical record connects him only to Nazareth or Bethlehem
-
7. The Talpiot tomb and ossuaries are such that they would have belonged to a rich family, which does not match the historical record for Jesus
-
8. Fourth-century church historian Eusebius makes quite clear that the body of James, the brother of Jesus, was buried alone near the temple mount and that his tomb was visited in the early centuries, making very unlikely that the Talpiot tomb was Jesus’ “family tomb”
-
9. The two Mary ossuaries do not mention anyone from Migdal, but simply has the name Mary, one of the most common of all ancient Jewish female names
-
10. By all ancient accounts, the tomb of Jesus was empty, making it highly unlikely that it was moved to another tomb, decayed for one year’s time, and then the bones put in an ossuary “In light of all the incredible number of problems with the recent claim that Jesus’ grave has been found, the time-honored, multi-faceted evidence for the bodily resurrection of Jesus is more convincing than ever,” said Dr. Gary Habermas, an expert on the resurrection of Jesus and author of The Case for the Resurrection. “Even the early opponents of the Christian message acknowledged that Jesus’ tomb was empty. And the evidence for Jesus’ bodily resurrection appearances has never been refuted.”
Here is a personal message from Randy
“A personal note from Randy:As a born-again Christian, the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is an immovable foundation of what I know is true. In the Bible, the apostle Paul explained that “If Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith” (1 Cor. 15:14) and “If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile, you are still in your sins” (1 Cor. 15:17). “
Also To encourage you and stimulate your thinking, here are five reasons why you can believe that Jesus was bodily raised from the dead, written by Kenneth Richard Samples of Reasons to Believe.

Does it Really matters or is it that an important matter to dig up the history? to injure someone’s feelings and faith? No matter what religion you follow and what you worship, I want so say only one thing that “It is the faith that keeps one alive during the hard time in the life. and The Fear that stops him from committing offense.” Naturally we humans need someone to rely on and someone to fear us to live in harmony and that someone is god. I want to ask the people around the world are there any hard evidences of latitudes and longitudes exists on the planet ..no they are Imaginary lines in to help us to know the exact global position similarly GOD by being an imaginary (According to Modern People and Scientists) Guides us with the Exact deeds of our lifetime. so When our scientists have accepted the imaginary lines why don’t they accept the imaginary Power which asks nothing in return but Guides us entire Life?
